Random Principles of Genetics: Interactive Web Learning Objects for Students

Dr. Henry Schaffer, Professor Emeritus of Genetics & Biomathematics Coordinator of Special IT Projects and Faculty Collaborations at NC State University

Website | hes@ncsu.edu

Abstract

Many students have trouble coping with stochastic/random variation aspects in genetics and related subjects, even when they understand the “expected” outcomes.

A number of computerized web experiences will be presented, demonstrated, and discussed which can help students eliminate their learning barriers.

Examples will be of Learning Objects in the areas of genetic segregation, the Chi-Square test, genetic drift, Mendelian ratios, selection, chromosome recombination and mapping, population genetics equilibrium, and estimation and testing in linear regression.

The GGA Seminar Series is held In-Person and on Zoom: https://ncsu.zoom.us/j/99920963547?pwd=alRnK21UMDVHRVgxT2tWa3JoK1pPdz09
