Inclusive Learning through Scientific Teaching
Sarah Miller, Ph.D. Executive Director of Tiny Earth
Workshop Abstract
Achieving equity in STEM requires attracting and retaining students from diverse backgrounds. Despite decades of calls for action, change has been slow. Recommendations have largely focused on members of underrepresented groups themselves rather than on fixing the classrooms that drive many students out of science. This seminar will shed light on how to leverage scientific teaching practices and AJEDI (antiracist, just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive) principles to foster inclusive learning in STEM.
