Navigating Opportunities in Industrial Biotechnology

Abstract
Choosing a career path in industrial agricultural biotechnology can be an exciting journey that can take many different directions. My experience beginning with graduate research at NCSU in the Department of Entomology was foundational to how I approached decisions throughout my career. The combination of skill sets I obtained over time and working across disciplines both in university settings and Syngenta were important in the opportunities afforded to me, how I decided to follow those opportunities and my interests as a scientist. In that context, examples of the positive impacts of artificial intelligence on agricultural research and how a computational science group supports an industrial research pipeline, will be discussed.
