This project will investigate the current library services and needs of our Cooperative Extension stakeholders and explore the ways that this can be further developed through collaborative research and development with our Extension colleagues at [University]. Extension agents face issues related to internet connectivity, information search strategies, data management, and variations in information literacy. While these types of considerations challenge libraries to reassess how they are supporting Extension faculty and staff, the needs of Cooperative Extension have not been fully assessed by the [University Libraries]. The first phase of this project involved deploying a needs assessment survey that addressed research roadblocks, resource needs, and ways that research could be made easier among Extension agents. Participants from phase one have agreed to participate in a second phase consisting of in-person interviews at their Extension site. Our preliminary data combined with the in depth interviews will allow us to anticipate and meet user needs, creating virtual and physical environments and services that inspire, connect, and benefit Extension agents. Funding for this project will cover the costs of travel to Extension sites and transcription services for the in-person interviews.
