Genetic Pest Management

RESEARCH INTEREST GROUPS

About

This RIG focuses on developing novel pest management approaches through genetic engineering of pest species to decrease their densities and/or decrease their ability to transmit pathogens. This interdisciplinary RIG includes students and faculty with expertise ranging from molecular genetics to population genetics and mathematical modeling, all of which are needed to make progress in this field. We meet twice a month to discuss new research in this field and brainstorm about potential collaborations.

The Gene Drive Journal Club meets weekly on Mondays at 10 a.m., contact Ariel Tarrand (aetarran@ncsu.edu) if interested in attending!
